I would like to express my gratitude to the staff at Leaps & Bounds for the support they have given me in my rehabilitation. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident where my car was T-boned which left me with whiplash to my neck and back.

After visiting a Physiotherapist and having received adequate treatment, it was recommended that I continue with appropriate exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles. I found the staff at Leaps & Bounds very friendly and they were also able to tell me what each of the exercises was for and the muscles that were being used.

My Experience with “LEAPS and BOUNDS”.

Several years ago I suffered from Sciatica. Last year I fell and sprained my lower back and right hip joint. The pain was very severe in my right hip and upper thigh. I did exercises which brought no pain relief but aggravated my symptoms. An x-ray showed severe degeneration of the hip joint. I am awaiting hip replacement surgery.

While I am waiting for surgery I have been doing special exercises with a trainer, Manuel, at Leaps and Bound. These have greatly strengthened my muscles, and this has resulted in a great decrease in pain. The doctors were amazed at the increase in my muscle tone and strength. My trainer has been careful not to aggravate the offending hip. I feel just great after the therapy.

With the very lengthy waiting time for hip surgery I would advise anyone not to sit and wait, but to take a course with a trainer at Leaps and Bounds so that at the time of surgery you will be much fitter and stronger for the operation, and the recovery will be better and quicker.

I confidently recommend the careful and skilled therapy of a trainer at Leaps and Bounds.

I have some physical health challenges and Shirley is the trainer who has been able to help me stay well and progress.  My sessions of 3/4 hour several times a week are always interesting and Shirley seeks out new ways to keep me active and relatively pain free.  I appreciate that she continues to upgrade her skills and professional development.  She is respectful and genuinely concerned for my well being.  The gym is exceptionally clean, equipped with modern equipment and comfortable.  This is one of the most valuable things I’ve done for myself.

Since a 1997 diagnosis of Osteoporosis, I’ve made exercise a regular part of my life.  Since starting to exercise with Shirley Garrett and Leaps & Bounds, I’ve made  gains in bone density, marked increase in muscle mass and overall better health and fitness.  Shirley combines her outstanding knowledge of body mechanics and anatomy with functional exercises and explanations that make my exercises more meaningful and fun.

On a recent tour, we found that we were in better shape than our younger travel-mates.  More able to scale the hills and had better endurance in the hot weather.

I’ve been working with Shirley since 2007 and 5 yrs ago was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.    Because of my good fitness level and consistent exercise routine, the progression of the disease has slowed.
