The Trainer Gets Trained! (#2)

I woke up at 3:00 in the morning and did not get back to sleep on the day of my second workout with Manuel.  I felt crummy……you know that groggy stomach thing when you’re short on sleep.

I really, REALLY, wanted to go back to bed after dropping off my daughters at school.  I was this close to bailing.  BUT, Manuel was ready to go, so I figured I would go anyway and whine, moan and otherwise complain my way through whatever torture he had conceived for me that day.  I was happy because it ended up being an arm day, anyway, which is a lot easier than legs when one is tired.  Even if that’s not what he had planned, he knew right away that I wasn’t up for a crazy workout….it could even be that he switched up what he was going to do because I told him I’d been up since 3:00.

A good Personal Trainer will do that for you, you know, if you tell them you’re not feeling 100%, they’ll change it up a little, see what you can do, ask for your feedback, work on the fly so that you can get something out of showing up, but don’t do more than you are capable of on any given day.  We admire that you showed up!

To my surprise, I got through three sets of 15-30 reps of 6 Shoulder exercises, 2 Biceps and 2 Triceps….. that’s 10 exercises to a set, with no rest between exercises and a short rest and stretch between sets;  Then 3 sets of 2 Abdominal exercises.

If you had asked me at 7:00 that morning if I would do this I would have said, “I’m going to put the kettle on for another cup of tea”.

Bottom line, I felt better when I left the gym.

So to you, dear readers, I say, “Go anyway!”
